What to Expect

The treatment includes administering small doses of Botox or Dysport just beneath the skin using ultra-fine needles—about the width of three strands of hair!

Mild redness and swelling at the injection sites are normal and typically subside within an hour. You can easily camouflage with a gentle application of tinted moisturizer.

Expect to see results starting within 3–5 days, with full effects appearing around the 2-week mark.

You'll still look like yourself—just a more refreshed, radiant version!

FAQ

What is the downtime? Can I go back to work after my treatment?

There’s minimal downtime with this treatment, so you can resume your daily routine immediately after leaving our office.

When will I see results?

Results generally begin to appear within 1–3 days, peak between 1–4 weeks, and gradually fade after 3–4 months.

How long do results last?

You can typically expect the effects to last for about 3–4 months.

What if I don’t get Botox or Dysport every three months?

If you skip injections, your muscles will resume their usual activity, potentially causing the lines to reappear as they were before treatment.

How does the medication work?

Botox and Dysport are neuromuscular blocking agents. They temporarily prevent the release of acetylcholine from nerve endings, relaxing the injected muscles. As the nerves regenerate, muscle activity gradually returns.

Does it hurt?

The needle used is extremely fine, so the injections feel like a small pinprick. Other than the brief injection, the procedure is painless.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects are generally mild and short-lived. The most common ones include slight swelling or bruising at the injection site, mild headache, or flu-like symptoms. Rarely, undesired muscle impairment can occur, which is often related to improper technique or patient selection. A conservative approach minimizes the risk of adverse effects.

Will my face look unnatural or overdone?

When administered correctly by a skilled medical provider, Botox and Dysport provide subtle, natural-looking results. People might notice your refreshed appearance without knowing the cause.

When should I start getting Botox?

Consider Botox when you begin noticing wrinkles at rest—lines visible even when you’re not making facial expressions.

What’s the difference between Botox and Dysport?

Both Botox and Dysport are purified proteins that block muscle contractions, though they have slight differences in molecular structure. They achieve the same outcome, and your provider can recommend the best option for you.

Can I be treated with Botox or Dysport if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

No, Botox and Dysport treatments are not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.

Pre-Treatment Guidelines

Schedule your appointment at least two weeks before any special event. This allows time for potential redness, swelling, or bruising to subside and ensures your injections have fully settled.

To reduce the risk of bruising or bleeding, avoid the following for 3–7 days before and after treatment: aspirin, NSAIDs, gingko biloba, garlic, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, flax oil, cod liver oil, vitamin A, vitamin E, or other essential fatty acids. Always consult your primary physician before discontinuing any prescribed medications.

Consider starting arnica supplements at least two days prior to your appointment to help minimize bruising.

Ensure there is no active rash or irritation in the treatment area.

Treatment is not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Post-Treatment Guidelines

Mild redness or sensitivity may occur and typically subsides within a few hours.

If you experience a headache, Tylenol can be taken as needed.

Avoid touching, massaging, or manipulating the treated area. Refrain from wearing a hat or lying down for at least four hours after treatment.

Avoid activities that involve heavy lifting, vigorous exercise, or straining for 24 hours post-treatment.

Postpone any additional facial treatments (e.g., facials, massages, lasers, ultrasounds, or microdermabrasion) for at least two weeks.

Results will begin to appear within 3–14 days. If your desired outcome hasn’t been achieved after 14 days, additional injections may be necessary. Please note that any product used during touch-ups or follow-up appointments will incur an additional charge.
